BgtL announced it has successfully commissioned and completed performance testing of a Fischer-Tropsch (FT) syngas-to-liquids conversion system. BgtL incorporated its proprietary compact technology in a coal-to-liquids process; custom designing an FT gas-to-liquids system. Designed and engineered by BgtL together with sister company, CompRex, LLC, with complete fabrication by Robinson Pipe & Vessel.
Operation and performance tests were run over two, five-day-periods with varied feedstock compositions to produce zero-sulfur synthetic crude oil (syncrude) from BgtL’s system. The results showed higher than expected conversion and productivity as well as low FT wax output. BgtL’s system is capable of producing different mixes of hydrocarbon liquids (jet, diesel and gasoline fuels) and high value waxes, and with the addition of a product upgrading module.
“We are pleased with the successful test results of the system which exceeded our client’s requirements. Performance of our reactor was critical in maintaining temperature control during this highly exothermic reaction. We are grateful to our manufacturing partner, Robinson Pipe & Vessel for exceeding our expectations of quality fabrication. These tests validate BgtL’s compact technology and its modular approach can provide a suitable solution for FT and other applications requiring efficient heat addition or removal with tight temperature control requirements” commented Dr. Zhijun Jia, CEO of BgtL.
Other applications for FT syngas-to-liquids conversion include process intensification and conversion of various feed stocks, such as natural gas, coal, biomass, and municipal solid waste, to liquid fuels. BgtL Successful application has been demonstrated in various fields including process intensification for alcohol production, ethylene oxide production, and FT gas to liquids.
